Independent research examining people’s use of drugs, including the medicinal use of substances not typically categorised as medicines, is a significant focus of Dr. Noller’s consultancy.
As an independent researcher Dr. Noller enjoys the flexibility of being able to develop research projects and to choose to work with groups of people that are not always accessible to large research-focused tertiary learning institutions or NGO’s and other organisations aligned with the treatment sector.
Completed projects include: examining cannabis use as a cultural practice; assessing the harms of synthetic cannabinoids in the developing new psychoactive substances market, following New Zealand’s implementation of the Psychoactive Substances Act (2013); and the use of ibogaine in the treatment of opioid dependence.
